An essay contest for college students on “Impact of lifestyle modification on gastrointestinal disorders” has been arranged as part of the 175th year celebrations of Madras Medical College. The essay contest is open to all college students in Tamil Nadu.
Among the important lifestyle factors linked to GI disorders are: consumption of junk food, use of tobacco and alcohol. The organisers said ideally, the essays must not merely identify problems, but suggest good practice to bring about change at the individual and societal levels. Creative approaches to achieve lifestyle modification can be put forth by the essayists.
The contest is open to any college student in Tamil Nadu, pursuing a recognized course. The essays should be of a maximum of 1,500 words either in Tamil or in English. They should be emailed to the organizers at ghgastro@gmail.com before 6 p.m. on January 15, 2010, with the following information about the contestant - Name, Course and Institution, Mobile Number, Email Address and Roll Number in College with complete postal address.
A panel of judges will select the best entries. The three best essays will be eligible for an award and a certificate of merit, which will be given away at a function on Republic Day, January 26, 2010.
