DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Friday reiterated that nobody can destroy the Dravidian movement in Tamil Nadu.

Speaking at a wedding function of a party cadre, Mr. Stalin said there is history of many trying to smear the Dravidian movement, unsuccessfully. “So many people are trying to destroy the Dravidian movement. We are seeing new people coming in [making political foray]. But, under no circumstance can such people put even a stain on the movement,” he said.

Mr. Stalin has been harping on the issue of the attempted destruction of the Dravidian movement ever since Tamil superstar actor Rajinikanth met DMK Chief M. Karunanidhi at his residence and sought his blessings for entering the political arena.

The DMK leader further said that once the High Court gives its verdict on a batch of cases related to the floor test and disqualification of 18 MLAs, the government would fall.

“The government will fall the next day after the verdict comes. Elections will be held immediately. When that happens, the DMK will come to power and put an end to the miseries faced by the people,” Mr. Stalin said.

National-level exams

In a letter to Union Minister of State (independent charge) for Development of North Eastern Region and Minister of State, PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Mr. Stalin appealed to the Centre to restore the recruitment of Group B, C, and D level employees in the Central government offices through regional level-/divisional-level exams.

“The question papers for the competitive exams are set in both Hindi and English. It gives greater advantage to the candidates appearing from Northern regions compared to those from the South – especially from Tamil Nadu,” he also said.

Mr. Stalin said this deprived candidates from Tamil Nadu of an opportunity to write these exams in their mother tongue. “By imposing unreasonable conditions, unemployed youth from Tamil Nadu are unjustifiably prevented from getting recruited for Central government jobs in Tamil Nadu,” he said.

Separately, Mr. Stalin expressed his condolences to the family of Mr. Suresh from Dharmapuri who was martyred in Kashmir.
