Disinvestment policy in public sector condemned

Condemning the Central government’s disinvestment policy in public sector undertakings and hike in Foreign Direct Investment in insurance sector, resolutions were passed during the 25th Insurance Corporation Employees Union conference of the Salem Zone held here on Sunday.

Other resolutions include minimum monthly salary of Rs. 15,000, immediate disbursal of pending salary, and withdrawal of service tax on LIC premium amount.

Speakers R. Dharmalingam, president of the Salem Zone Insurance Corporation Employees Union, and general secretary A. Kaliyaperumal and others condemned the anti-labour policies of the Central Government. They urged the government to stop the disinvestment policy.

Earlier in the day, 200 members took out a rally in the city.
