Dipika Pallikal wins arbitration award

An arbitral tribunal at the Madras High Court Arbitration Centre has awarded a claim of ₹19.48 lakh to Indian squash champion Dipika Pallikal.

As per the award granted by the sole arbitrator V. Subramaninan (retired district judge), Borg Energy India Private Ltd has been directed to pay Ms. Pallikal ₹19.48 lakh with 12% interest till the date of payment within three months.

Ms. Pallikal had moved the Madras High Court under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act for appointment of an arbitrator for adjudicating a payment dispute arising out of a ‘Brand Endorsement Agreement’ with Borg Energy.

The court-appointed arbitrator conducted the arbitration proceedings on the claim made by Ms. Pallikal pertaining to non-payment of brand endorsement fee of ₹10 lakh for 2015-16 by the company.
