“CSCs will come in handy for the public”

The Common Service Centres of Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable Television Corporation Limited, launched in all the four taluks in Kanyakumari district on February 24, will be useful for the public to apply for certificates such as nativity, community certificates etc., according to Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan.

After handing over certificates to few beneficiaries at Agasteeswaram Taluk Office on Monday, he said the centres would streamline the benefits of welfare schemes implemented through the Social Welfare Department.

Besides, the centres would process applications for securing Permanent Account Number from Income Tax Department, Aadhaar, providing printouts of Aadhaar cards based on acknowledgment receipt, making corrections in voter identity cards, forwarding applications to Police Department for securing passport, and making payment of LIC premium etc.

Mr. Chavan said that applicants will be receiving SMS from the department concerned once the certificates are ready, after which they can obtain the same through the Common Service Centres. The certificates would be issued within a week, however maximum time limit for issue of certificates are two weeks.

So far, 117 certificates were issued through these centres, Mr. Chavan said. Operations of the centres will be monitored online by the Collector and other officials.
