Normal life was hit in Masinagudy and its surroundings, including Mavanhallah, Moyar and Vazhaithottam, near the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve on Friday with all sections of the trading community observing a bandh to protest the closure of the reserve for tourism purposes.
The bandh was in support of the members of The Nilgiris District Motor Drivers Association at Masinagudy who have been on strike from Thursday in protest against the restrictions imposed on movement of vehicles on the highway passing through the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve following the Supreme Court order banning tourism in core habitats in tiger reserves all over the country.
All shops and hotels remained closed and taxis, and autos went on strike.
