The AIADMK on Saturday began talks with the CPI(M) for sharing of seats for the Assembly elections.

The AIADMK was represented by a three-member committee, comprising its treasurer O. Panneerselvam, headquarters secretary K.A. Sengottaiyan and election wing secretary Pollachi V. Jayaraman.

The CPI(M) delegation included State secretary G. Ramakrishnan, central committee member T.K. Rangarajan and State secretariat member K. Balakrishnan.

“We had the first round of talks and there was a broad discussion about the strategy to be adopted for the elections. Our objective is to ensure that the AIADMK alliance wins the election,” Mr. Ramakrishnan told reporters at the AIADMK headquarters.

Asked whether the CPI(M) submitted its list of preferred constituencies to the AIADMK, Mr. Ramakrishnan said so far nothing had been finalised.
