Members of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) adopted a resolution declaring that their party leader and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa was the best candidate to lead the nation.

The sentiment was expressed forcefully at the party’s general council meeting near here on Thursday. The resolution talked of how Ms. Jayalalithaa would be the ideal candidate to occupy the position. Referring to various measures and policies she had taken as Chief Minister, the resolution went on to state how Ms. Jayalalithaa alone would be able to provide a government that would ensure prosperity of the country.

Pointing out that the country had seen Prime Ministers who hailed from Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, it stated that the time now was ripe for a person from Tamil Nadu to become Prime Minister. The resolution called on members of the party to strive for creating a situation that would enable Ms. Jayalalalithaa to lead the nation.
