‘Abide by HC order on erecting flex board’

The district administration has issued a fiat to flex board and hoarding printers to abide by the Madras High Court guidelines in the district.

The administration has directed flex board and hoarding printers to insist upon a copy of the local body’s permit for erecting the flex board or hoarding, and also ensure that the hoarding or the flex board carries on the side, the period up to when the permission for its erection has been granted.

Further, the date and permit details issued by the local body should be printed in the display board.

The flex board/hoardings should allocate 10 per cent of space for carrying social messages such as rain water harvesting/no to child marriage/no to child labour/no female foeticide and infanticide etc. The print of flex boards and hoardings should be carried out as per the norms of the Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867.

In addition, the administration has constituted flying squads to ensure the norms are followed and initiate action against violators.

The banners and hoardings shall be placed in the manner that it does not pose traffic hindrance.
