Women voters outnumber men in Dindigul, Theni districts

DINDIGUL: The summary electoral roll was released for all the seven Assembly segments in Dindigul and four segments in Theni districts on Thursday.

The number of voters in Dindigul district is 17,42,208 (Men - 8,56,925; Women - 8,85,135 and Others - 148), up by 1.69 per cent when compared to the draft electoral roll released on September 2016.

Releasing the final roll, District Revenue Officer B. Baskaran said copies of the roll were kept in all taluk and RDO offices and at polling stations for verification. Colour EPIC would be issued to new voters on Electors Day (January 25).

Women voters outnumbered men voters by 28,210. Eligible persons could submit application for fresh enrolment, he added.

Theni

The total electorate in the four Assembly constituencies in Theni district is 10,46,997 (Men - 5,17,338; Women - 5,29,500; and Others - 159).

Releasing the final roll, Collector N. Venkatachalam said women outnumbered men in all segments.

A total of 21,394 applications for inclusion of names were accepted and 564 rejected.
