Prof. M.S.Swaminathan receives Canadian honour

Agricultural scientist M.S.Swaminathan on Tuesday received the Canadian Governor General’s Medallion for his “contribution to improved agricultural practices and rural development in India and globally.”

Jennifer Daubeny, Consul General, Consulate General of Canada, handed over the medallion at a meeting with Prof. Swaminathan and senior members of the M.S.Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF), said a press release here. MSSRF has been engaged in research and developmental activities as part of a partnership since 1991 with Canada in the areas of mangrove restoration and coastal zone management.

In his response, Prof. Swaminathan said he valued this special recognition and that only collaboration can solve many problems.
