In a suspected case of food poisoning, 42 persons, including 30 children, from Chinnamalayanur near Uluppagudi in Natham block were admitted to the Government Hospital here on Wednesday.

It is reported that school children and others used to buy ‘paniyaram’ (a sweet made of steamed batter) from a woman at the village. It is alleged that a dead lizard was found in the batter on that day and those who ate ‘ paniyaram’ started vomiting.

Many children vomited and swooned at the government school at the village. They were rushed to the primary health centre at Uluppagudi and referred to the Dindigul GH. Doctors said their condition was stable.
