A Delhi court on Thursday extended the judicial remand of six of the 16 accused in the documents theft case till March 19.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjay Khanagwal extended the judicial remand of Shailesh Saxena of RIL, Rishi Anand of ADAG, Vinay Kumar of Essar, K.K. Naik of Cairn, Subhash Chandra of Jubilant Energy and Virender Kumar, a Defence Audit contractual employee, when the Delhi police produced them in court.
The police had arrested the five executives on February 20. They used to allegedly procure Petroleum Ministry documents from Lalta Prasad and Rakesh, accused in the case, for a consideration and supply them to senior officers in their companies.
Seeking extension of their remand, the investigating officer said probe was still going on. The documents seized were being analysed and some of them had been sent to the Petroleum Ministry for scrutiny.
Meanwhile, Shailesh Saxena, Vinay Kumar and Subhash Chandra moved an application for bail which the court will take up for hearing on March 11.
All the 16 accused are in judicial custody. Two FIRs were registered by the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police.
