Taking ahead investigations in the documents theft case, the Delhi Police on Monday questioned a senior official of GMR Energy. However, none of the CEOs of the companies named so far have been questioned as yet.
Rajbir Singh, manager, Corporate Relations, GMR Energy Limited, was called for questioning at the Interstate Cell of the Delhi Police Crime Branch in Chanakyapuri.
“GMR employee Rajbir Singh was called for questioning and we are still in talks with other people. Some of them are on the run and efforts are on to nab them. Those who ran away are primarily members of consulting companies,” Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi said.
Mr. Bassi clarified that the Crime Branch, which is probing the case, has not questioned any CEOs so far.
Documents examined
Asked about the nature of the documents received so far and whether the police were planning to slap the Official Secrets Act (OSA) in this connection, he said, “Some documents have been recovered; we are examining them; they are being examined in consultation with respective ministries so that the importance of the documents can be ascertained.”
So far 16 people have been arrested in this case under two separate FIRs. While 13 people have been arrested under the first FIR, three have been held in the second case.
Last arrest
The last arrest in the case was on February 26 when the police had apprehended two officials of the Environment Ministry and the UPSC.
They were identified as Jitender Nagpal (40), PS to Joint Secretary in the Forest and Environment Ministry, and Vipan Kumar (42), PA to an UPSC member.
