The Crime Branch police will file a supplementary charge sheet against reporter Jigna Vora, accused in journalist J Dey murder case, on Tuesday.
Crime Branch officials told The Hindu on Monday that the charge sheet was ready but they were waiting for the forensic report of Jigna's laptop and cellphone.
“We are yet to get a copy of the forensic report. But since the deadline of filing the charge sheet against her will get over on February 22, we have decided to file the charge sheet tomorrow [Tuesday] itself. We can produce the forensic report at the trial stage too,” an official said.
The officials said they were in possession of the printout of Ms. Vora's threatening messages to J Dey, data of her call records with members of the Chhota Rajan gang. Gangster Chhota Rajan had been shown as a wanted accused in the previous charge sheet filed in the case.
Ms. Vora, who worked as Deputy Bureau Chief with The Asian Age , was arrested on November 25 last on suspicion of her involvement in providing vital information about J Dey to Chhota Rajan's crime syndicate.
The prosecution had earlier told the court that Ms. Vora overstepped her limit as a journalist.
A charge sheet has already been filed against 10 accused in the case, believed to be members of the Chhota Rajan gang. The previous charge sheet did not mention Ms. Vora or her role in the crime.
Ms. Vora, along with the other 10 accused, has been booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act.
