‘PM will decide on CBI probe into Munde’s death’

Published - June 06, 2014 12:03 am IST - NEW DELHI:

There is a growing clamour for a CBI inquiry into the death of Union Rural Development Minister Gopinath Munde in a road accident.

Following demands from the late Minister’s supporters for a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into his death, Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would take a final call in this regard.

“Yesterday, I spoke to the Prime Minister and Munde’s family. It is the Prime Minister who will decide the proper course of action on the matter and truth will prevail,” he said.

Munde was on his way to the Delhi airport on Tuesday morning to take a flight to his Beed constituency in Maharashtra when he was killed in a road accident.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray is among those who have demanded that the CBI inquire into the demise of Munde in New Delhi.
