Pakistani troops fired at several Indian posts along the border in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. This is the seventh case of ceasefire violation in October this year.
“Pakistan troops have fired with small arms, light and medium weapons on several Indian posts along Indo-Pak border in Krishnagati sub-sector along Line of Control (LoC) of Poonch district from 2230 hours last night,” PRO Defence, Col. R.K. Palta told PTI.
“They have also violated the ceasefire,” he said.
“They opened fire on Indian posts of Kripan, Kranti and Battal along the Line of Control (LoC) from 2230 hours till 2330 hours last night,” Col. Palta said.
“The firing of small arms, light and medium weaponry continued for one hour,” he said. There was retaliation from the Indian side as they observed calm, he said.
There was no loss of life or damage to property in the firing, he said.
In another such incident, Pakistan Rangers violated ceasefire and fired on Abdullian border outpost along the International Border in RS Pura sector in Jammu district on Friday for a brief period, officials said.
However, there was no loss of life or damage to property reported in the firing, which continued for few minutes.
It may be recalled that Pakistan had violated ceasefire 25 times in the past two months along the IB and LoC in J&K.
One October 17, Pakistani troops resorted to small arms firing on forward border belts of Goutrian and Mankote (separate areas) along Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector.

Its easy for everyone to post comments on retaliation by India. But you
don't know the problems which will occur if we retaliate. This is not a
cricket match retaliation by India may result in a skirmish or a border
conflict between Pakistan and India and many of the soldiers on both
sides will die and it will also affect thousands on both the sides of
the border
India has got a short window of opportunity to resolve the Kashmir issue according to wishes of Kashmiris. If India loses this window then most likely Kashmir will Flare up much worse than any time in past.
these unexplained firing incidents are nothing more than the old cheap
stunts of the pakistan rangers to facilitate militant inflitration.
Such incidents should be countered aggressively by the Indian
forces.Shove them with a mortar shell, for every bullet they fire.
This news concerns national security and deserves due space and attention from all corners. What is the defense strategy? What is the communication from other side of the border? Is this to be considered lightly as routine? What is the cause, purpose, cost and consequence of these ceasefire violations?
The Pak military is populated with all mediocre men. Wasp will be
veering round their brain if they have; else follow the former. In a
peaceful area they want to create trouble means one should read the line
between.
What is India going to do to stop the continuing violations of Pakistan across the LOC and across the Kashmir border? As long India does not take any punitive action against Pakistan, Pakistan uses the Indian territory as a shooting range. Is the Pakistan government responsible for the shootings across the border into India? Is the rogue Pakistan army acting its own? Is the terrorists and the Moslem fundamentalists acting alone or in collusion with ISI and army?
