1.70 lakh "Shiksha Mitras" to be regularised: Akhilesh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday emphasised on the development agenda of his Government and said maintenance of law and order has been accorded top priority.

Stating that security of women was a top priority for his Government, he said several decisions have been taken towards this end. Referring to the “1090” women’s power line service, Mr. Yadav said more effective steps would be taken for strengthening the service.

The Chief Minister said the Government has also proposed many measures for tackling the menace of unemployment. He announced that five lakh people would be given jobs in Government departments and the services of 1.70 lakh “Shiksha Mitras” (ad hoc rural teachers) would be regularised. The Uttar Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Mission has been started for making 24 lakh jobless youth self-employed in the next three years, he said.

Addressing the people after unfurling the Tricolour at the Vidhan Bhavan building on the occasion of the 68th Independence Day on Friday, Mr. Yadav exhorted the people to support the Government’s endeavour aimed towards the social and economic uplift of farmers, youth, women, children, weaker sections and the minorities. He said for Uttar Pradesh to emerge as a better and progressive State it was imperative for all to contribute towards its development.

Mr. Yadav said the Government has formulated its development agenda. Referring to the State’s tourism potential, he said Uttar Pradesh can emerge as a tourist destination. He mentioned that three ghats on the banks of the Ganga were being developed in Varanasi where a museum in memory of Bismillah Khan will also be built. He said a regional air service for promoting tourism would be launched soon.

Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party president, Mulayam Singh has said the party has always stood against inequality, injustice and exploitation. Addressing party workers after unfurling the National Flag at the SP headquarters, he said the party’s basic philosophy should be incorporated in the actions of the workers.
