Woman Maoist killed, three arrested in Chhattisgarh

A woman commander of the Maoists’ People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) was killed in an encounter with security forces in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, police said.

“An operation was undertaken under Mirtur police station limits of Bijapur in which two STF teams, one DRG (District Reserve Guard) and a special team of the CRPF led by CRFP DIG participated. After some skirmishes with the Maoists, we recovered a dead body of a uniformed woman Maoist along with two hand grenades and one rifle near Bechapal village,” Bastar range Inspector General (IG) of Police Mr. S. R. Kalluri said.

The IG also claimed that the forces recovered a “big dump left by the Maoists” from the spot of the encounter.

In another separate operation, Dantewada district police arrested three Maoists from Kirandul town of the district.
