The Enforcement Directorate has issued summons to Pratibha Singh, wife of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, in the money laundering case, after she failed to turn up to join investigations at the ED office on Wednesday. The ED has already arrested LIC agent Anand Chauhan, who had invested the alleged money of the Chief Minister in life insurance policies for Mr. Singh and his family members. The ED is enquiring about the source of money the Chief Minister earned between 2009 and 2011 when he was Union Steel Minister. He had shown around Rs. 6 crore as his income from apple farms.

He had then filed revised income tax returns showing a huge increase in his farm proceeds.

The Delhi High Court had not given a stay on the arrests of other accused and had rejected the request of Mr. Singh who had earlier obtained a similar stay against his arrest in the Himachal High Court.

Meanwhile, Mr. Singh’s son Vikramaditya on Wednesday joined the protest organised by the Youth Congress in Delhi against the “anti-people” policies of the Modi government.
