UPA suppressing Opposition: Swamy

August 04, 2013 02:25 am | Updated June 04, 2016 04:33 pm IST - Mumbai:

The United Progressive Alliance government is creating an atmosphere of terror by suppressing opposition, alleged Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy on Saturday. He was visiting the ‘Aditi Restaurant’ in Central Mumbai which was last month attacked by Congress activists for printing anti-government satirical line on the hotel bills.

“Mumbai is a citadel of democracy. People of Mumbai have always stood for it, right from the days of emergency in 1975-76. This incidence shows that people still will not bow down to any authoritarian regime,” said Dr. Swamy, comparing the current situation with that of one existed during the emergency.

He said that he was elected as an MP twice from Mumbai. “I have come here to show my solidarity with the people of Mumbai. I wish good luck to the people here in their fight,” he said.
