Two Maoists killed in Bastar encounter

Two Maoists were killed and four arrested during two different encounters with the police in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday.

“One Maoist was killed and four woman Maoists were arrested in an encounter with police teams near Nihadi village of Dantewada district on Wednesday. The face-off happened when the Maoists were celebrating Martyrs’ week. One more Maoist was killed in another encounter between the Maoists and a team of STF (Special Task Force) in Sukma district. The encounter is still on,” said S.R. Kalluri, Bastar Inspector-General of Police.

“We have received a body of a uniformed Maoist along with a weapon from the spot of Dantewada encounter. The second encounter, which is going on near Dabba village of Sukma, is being led by Kunna police inspector Rathod. One 3.3 rifle has been recovered from the spot along with body of a uniformed Maoist,” Mr. Kalluri added.
