Under fire for the triple murder of three girls of a family belonging to the Dalit community, the police on Sunday claimed to have cracked the case. Two accused, named Dheeraj Gaur and Amresh alias Loha, who belong to the Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste, were arrested on Sunday.
Hunt is on to arrest two others, who were present at the scene of crime near Piparjhulli Tola village under Barhaj police station area in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh, an official spokesman said here. The blood stained axe was recovered a few paces away from the scene of the sensational crime following the disclosure by the two youths arrested by the police.
The autopsy report has ruled out rape before the triple murder. According to the spokesman, the post mortem was conducted by a panel of five doctors, including two lady doctors. The cause of the death was from wounds were inflicted by a sharp-edged weapon.
One-sided love affair
One-sided love affair between one of the accused and the eldest of the three girls, aged 18 years, was attributed to be the cause of the crime, the spokesman said. The two other girls were killed in a bid to wipe out evidence, the spokesman added.
The three girls, aged 18, 14 and nine years, had left their house on March 20 for collecting fodder in south-west Siwan. When the girls did not return in the evening their family members launched a search operation to find them. The Barhaj police was informed late in the night. Their bodies were found about two kilometres from their house at around 7.30 AM on March 21. While the bodies of two girls were found in a wheat field, that of the third deceased was found nearby. The sickle used for cutting grass was found near the third deceased. They had sustained wounds in their heads, police said.
