Two CRPF jawans, including a sub-inspector, have been injured as militants opened fire on a security forces' patrol near Athwajan on the outskirts of Srinagar on Saturday afternoon.

Preliminary reports suggest militants after firing at the patrol were seen running towards the Delhi Public School (DPS) complex. However, there is no official confirmation if the militants managed to enter the complex.

Meanwhile, reinforcements have been rushed to the area and school complex sealed to search for the militants. The number of militants could not be ascertained immediately.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the sub-inspector is critical and may have succumbed to the injuries. The CRPF is yet to official confirm any casualty.
