The Gujarat police on Saturday arrested two people in connection with the brutal assault on a 13-year-old Dalit boy in Vithlapur village near Ahmedabad. They arrested were Jaydip Darbar and Cheharsinh Solanki.

“We have arrested two of the four accused in connection with the assault on a Dalit boy. The remaining two will be arrested very soon,” State Director General of Police Shivanand Jha told reporters.

Mr. Jha added that the victim’s family had been provided protection with two police guards stationed at their home.

The incident occurred on Thursday when four persons belonging to a dominant caste brutally thrashed the boy for wearing a pair of jeans and “trying to look like a Kshatriya”.

They also recorded their act and circulated the videos. In the videos, the accused are seen slapping and assaulting the victim, who is pleading to be freed.
