Population enumerators in Gujarat have roped in the star cast of the popular television serial Tarak Mehta ka Ulta Chashma , based on stories written by Gujarati humourist and writer Tarak Mehta, for popularising census operations.

Director of Census Operations Manish Bhardwaj said here on Friday that the census operations would be carried out from February 9 to 28, with a revision from March 1 to 5 and the preliminary data would be released by March 25. The entire cast of the serial, including director Asit Modi, was present at the media conference.

Mr. Bhardwaj said the serial would dedicate one episode for creating awareness among the people.

Also for the first time packets containing “prasad” distributed in the Somnath, Dwarka and Ambaji temples would carry census-related information.
