A group of youths on Friday burnt the tricolour and hoisted flags of Islamic State group (IS) and Pakistan during a protest after Friday prayers, triggering a clash between the protesters and security forces.

The youths set ablaze the tricolour and PDP flags during the protests, besides hoisting the IS and Pakistani flags atop a shopping arcade near Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of the city soon after the prayers, a police official said.

Some protesters started pelting stones at the police personnel but were chased away by police, who lobbed few tear gas shells, the official said.
