Objecting to the passage of the Telangana Bill in the Lok Sabha amid much chaos and disruption, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Wednesday that the government has set a bad precedent in the process of creation of States.

“An unhealthy and wrong practice has started. Under Article three of the Constitution, the Centre has the authority to reorganise States, but healthy practices have to be followed. The Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party together have sowed the seed of a wrong tradition. The Telangana Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha by of the majority of the two parties. I am not against Telangana, but I do not support the use of wrong methods. The situation was potent because of the inflamed sentiments of pro- and anti-Telangana supporters.

Last December, Mr. Kumar had backed the position of YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy, who met the chief minister in Patna. Mr. Kumar said on the issue of bifurcation, the Centre must take the State Assembly into confidence.
