The trend set by the 29 unsuccessful students of Santoshpur Rishi Aurobindo Balika Bidyalaya, who laid a 21-hour siege to their teachers for allegedly giving them unfair marks, spread to other schools of West Bengal, where similar agitations were held on Wednesday.
The students demand that they be allowed to take the secondary-level examinations, though their schools have barred them from the selection tests.
The series of agitations seemed to have been triggered by the decision of the West Bengal Council of Higher Education in the morning to urge the Santoshpur school teachers to reconsider their decision.
