A spate of rape cases was reported from different parts of Chhattisgarh on Friday, two of which were gang rapes.
“A 16-year-old girl student from Korba district had come to Jashpur for a wedding ceremony of a relative. She was lured by three men into a long drive who took her to the Ranidah area and raped her in turns,” informed Jashpur Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) Neha Panday, adding that the minor was raped at three different locations over a period of 36 hours.
The accused, Shubh Nayak, Sandeep Nayak and Gopi Nayak, were arrested and charged under Section 376 (2)(g) of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, said the Additional SP.
In another incident, three men broke open the house of a middle-aged housewife in Balarampur district’s Kusmi village late on Thursday and sexually assaulted her, said the police.
Police have arrested one person in connection with the Kusmi incident.
In a separate incident, a mother of a one-year-old baby was raped by the village doctor in Ambikapur district. The victim had taken her baby to the village doctor for treatment, according to the police.
