A Special Police Officer allegedly having contacts with ISI and Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) and carrying a Pakisani SIM card was arrested near the Line of Control in the district, officials said today.

Acting on intelligence inputs and after monitoring alleged links of SPO Mohammad Rafiq with militants and Pakistani intelligence agency ISI, police arrested him at Chakan-Da-Bagh crossing point along LoC, they said.

SPO was allegedly in touch with his handlers in ISI and LeT, they said, adding a case has been registered and investigations were on.

As per the preliminary investigation, he had received fake currency with a face value of Rs 12 lakh from across the border, they said.

Rafiq’s contact Hafiz of Surankote was arrested by Srinagar Police last month in connection with fake currency racket.
