Actor Shah Rukh Khan’s car was allegedly stoned by a group of people who chanted “ Jai Shree Ram, ” here on Sunday.

Mr. Khan is in Ahmedabad to shoot for his upcoming movie Raees , which is based on the life of a bootlegger-turned-gangster Abdul Latif. The film is being directed by Rahul Dholakia.

Stones were thrown at a convoy of cars in which the actor and the film crew were travelling, said a police official. “No one was injured. There was no other damage,” the official added.

Around a dozen protesters were detained by the police for trying to burn the effigy of the actor.

Earlier, Mr. Khan faced similar protests in Kutch.

Ever since Mr. Khan made remarks on the rising intolerance, he has been targeted by right-wing elements.
