Some personnel of 9 Assam Rifles escaped unhurt in three bomb blasts on Wednesday morning.

The insurgents had planted the three powerful bombs at roadside near T Minou village in Chandel district. These bombs were detonated one after another at 6:25 am. Search operations were conducted in the nearby villages and mountains. However no arrest was made.

Meanwhile, security measures have been beefed up in the Northeast ahead of the Republic Day celebrations. Some insurgent groups have called for a boycott and general strike against the celebrations.

Kamatapur Liberation Organisation, National Democratic Front of Bodoland (S), United National Liberation Front of Asom (I) and the Coordination Committee Manipur formed by six proscribed underground organisations have called the general strike with effect from January 25 evening.

All available State and Union forces have been pressed into service.
