To resolve differences over seat-sharing for the forthcoming polls to various civic bodies across West Bengal with its alliance partner, the Trinamool Congress, the core committee of the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (WBPCC) has decided on another round of talks with the Trinamool chief, Mamata Banerjee, before it reconvenes on April 18.
“The WBPCC core committee to be represented by three of its members has sought another round of discussions with Mamata Banerjee,” Pradip Bhattacharya, working president of the WBPCC, told The Hindu over telephone shortly after a meeting of its core committee presided over by Union Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee, in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Mr. Mukherjee is also the WBPCC president. One of the major sore points between the two parties is the sharing of seats in the elections to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC).
