Scribes to continue boycott

Agitating journalists of Manipur on Tuesday stayed away from work and decided to intensify their protest against violence against scribes.

After a day-long meeting, the All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU) resolved to continue its boycott of government news and functions, begun on Monday, demanding transfer of the ranking police officers from Imphal West district.

No talks would be held with the government until Superintendent of Police L. Kailun withdrew the charges levelled against the two reporters who were harassed on Saturday night.
