A school bus, reportedly carrying 40 children, met with an accident near a gorge in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

The children were from a private school in Rajouri's Manjakote, according to sources. While earlier reports from the Valley suggested the bus fell into the gorge, Poonch SP rejected it.

"One of the two buses carrying children met with a minor accident today. The buses have reached the school safely and all passengers, including children are safe," said Yougal Manhas, SP, Poonch.

"We have rushed a police team to find out the cause of accident," he added.

When asked about the earlier report, the SP said the spot of accident was quite far away from residential area and because young children were involved, such a false news would have spread.
