Trinamool Congress general secretary Mukul Roy and Rajya Sabha MP, Mukul Roy arrived at the office of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday morning in connection with the Saradha scam.
While addressing the media, Mr. Ray reiterated his earlier position and said, “I have not committed anything unethical. I will cooperate with the CBI.”
He is the second-in-command, after the chief Mamata Banerjee, in the party. Mr. Roy’s name surfaced during the investigation of the multi-crore Saradha Chit Fund scam, which is now considered as the ‘Achilles’ Heel’ of the ruling TMC in the State.
Mr. Roy is expected to face rigorous interrogation throughout the day by the sleuths at the agency’s office.
Two of TMC’s MPs and one cabinet minister are already in custody in connection with the Saradha scam.
Security has been beefed up in and around the CGO Complex, where CBI’s office is located in Salt Lake.
A large number of TMC supporters are expected to throng the area.
