Hizb-ul-Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin’s son Syed Shahid Yusuf, an employee of the Jammu and Kashmir government, was placed under suspension in the wake of his detention by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in an illegal funding case, according to State government sources.

Officials said the services of Mr. Yousuf, an employee with the State’s agriculture department, “stood suspended as per the government rules for any employee who spends more than 48 hours in jail.”

Mr. Yousuf was arrested in New Delhi on October 24 in a 2011 case where he allegedly received money through wire services from abroad.
