The vigilance sleuths nabbed an Assistant Revenue Inspector (ARI) in the Boudh district of Odisha while he was accepting bribe on Wednesday.

Nutan Kumar Naik, the ARI of Pora revenue circle under Kantamal tehsil, was arrested.

According to SP of Berhampur vigilance division, M. Panda, the ARI had demanded Rs.22,000 from 22 landless beneficiaries of the Basundhara Yojana to demarcate the land plots to be allocated to them.

Jayant Meher, one of these beneficiaries, had given Rs.12,000 to Naik on April 18 as first instalment. But he also brought this to the notice of the vigilance department.

Based on his complaint, the vigilance sleuths set a trap and caught Naik while he was accepting Rs.10,000, the remaining amount, in his office. Marked currency notes were seized from his possession.
