One kg of RDX was recovered from a place between the Congress office and G.M. Hall here on Sunday morning. The police and some persons spotted the suspicious object at 8.15 a.m. Had the explosive exploded, both buildings would have crumbled, it is said.
The RDX was taken to a secluded place at Lamphel for controlled explosion.
In another incident, a hand grenade was lobbed into the house of N. Bijoy, who has been allotted Congress ticket in the coming Assembly elections. He was an MLA of the opposition Manipur People's Party till a few days ago.
The police say bomb attacks were planned by a Coordination Committee of seven outlawed underground organisations which had declared an “indefinite ban” on the Congress.
