Pune woman dies during Dudhsagar trek

A Dudhsagar trek on Sunday went tragic for a group of 31 trekkers from Pune as 24-year-old woman, Chetali Patil, drowned at Dudhsagar river at Collem on Goa’s boundary with Karnataka on Sunday.

The woman had come down to Goa in Goa Express train from Pune along with a group of 31 people including her brother, other relatives and friends for a Dudhsagar trek, Collem police told The Hindu on Sunday.

While crossing the Dudhsagar river holding on to a rope, Ms. Patil lost her grip and fell despite valiant efforts by her brother and other trekkers to rescue her.

Her body will be handed over to relatives after postmortem, said police.
