Activists of an organisation named ‘Rudra Sena’ held demonstration in Berhampur on Monday to protest against recent decision of the Odisha government to increase reservation quota for SC & ST students during admissions in all government-run educational institutions.
The government has already declared that this increase in reservation will be applicable from 2015-16 academic year. As per the earlier provisions in Odisha, 12 per cent seats were reserved for SC students in government-run educational institutions and 8 per cent for ST students. Under the new notification, the reservation limit has been increased to 22.5 per cent and 16.25 respectively.
Rudra Sena activists handed over a memorandum addressed to the CM at the office of the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), southern division, in the city.
