Pakistan violates ceasefire

June 12, 2015 02:39 am | Updated 02:39 am IST - Jammu:

Pakistani troops violated the border ceasefire on Thursday as they resorted to “unprovoked” firing from across the Line of Control in Jammu region, which was retaliated by the Indian forces, the Defence Ministry said here.

“Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing in Sawjian sector of Poonch district since 9.15 a.m.,” Jammu-based defence spokesman Lt Col Manish Mehta told PTI. The firing lasted for about 5 to 10 minutes. No casualty or damage was reported on the Indian side. He said the Pakistani Army had been intermittently firing with small automatic weapons since the morning. “Our troops have also responded with equal force,” he said. — PTI
