With the Opposition parties hitting out at Bihar coalition government for collapse of rule of law, Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad on Sunday said there was no room for violence in the State and the Opposition kept trying to create an illusion of ‘jungle raj’ for their convenience.

Following the daylight murder of a party leader on Friday, the Lok Janshakti Party on Sunday asserted that law and order had completely failed in the State and demanded Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s resignation and imposition of President’s Rule in Bihar.

“Bihar is the land of ahmisa and there is no room for violence here. But the Opposition kept repeating ‘jungle raj’ prevalent in the State …instead of focusing on the issues of development, the Opposition has been creating unnecessary confusion to divert people’s attention,” said Mr. Prasad.

The RJD is a coalition partner in the Nitish Kumar-led grand alliance government in the State.

On the daylight killing of an LJP leader Brijnathi Singh from Raghopur of Vaishali district who had been politically challenging Mr. Prasad’s family in Assembly elections, the RJD chief said he had faith in the law and assured that the guilty would not be spared.

“Whoever involved will not be spared…there is a rule of law in the State and nobody is allowed to take law into their hand,” Mr. Prasad told journalists.

Meanwhile, LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan said: “The voters in Bihar now have realised their mistake of choosing the present government in power…the State is passing through jungle raj and the Chief Minister has lost his moral right to say anything on rule of law…he should now resign.”

Condemning the murder, LJP leader and party MP Chirag Paswan too had demanded President’s Rule in the State.

Mr Singh, whose wife and son had contested against Mr. Prasad’s wife Rabri Devi and their younger son Tejaswi Yadav from Raghopur Assembly constituency, was shot dead on Friday by unidentified persons. Mr. Singh’s wife and another woman relative were injured in the attack.

However, the police said Mr Singh was killed in a gang war. Two named accused along with some others were taken into custody in connection with the case on Sunday, said the police.
