Raking up the beef controversy yet again, Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij tweeted on Wednesday that those who can’t live without beef should not come to Haryana.

His comment again raised the issue of special permission for serving beef to foreigners that was dying down after Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had said that there was no controversy over the beef ban in the State.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda said Mr. Khattar had taken a U-turn on the issue.

Mr. Hooda said the Chief Minister in his statement had said ‘we will take special permission on beef for foreigners’, but there is a Cow Protection Act that had been passed in the Assembly.

“If special permission has to be given to foreigners then the Act has to be amended and you have to go to the Assembly. The Assembly was unanimous when it passed the Act,” Mr. Hooda said.
