Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today urged Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee to ensure allocation of sufficient funds for implementation of all the rail projects in the State.

“I urge and expect that Mamataji will do the justice and make necessary allocation of funds in the railway budget for 2011-12 for completion of all the rail projects in Bihar”, Mr. Kumar told reporters on the sidelines of his ‘Janata Darbar Programme.’

Hoping that steps would be taken for completing the construction of a railway project at Marhaura in Saran district, besides construction of road-cum-bridge over river Ganga between Digha and Sonepur and another rail bridge in Sheikhpur.

He said that the Digha-Sonepur rail bridge which was earlier planned to be constructed by 2009, was yet to be completed.

Mr. Kumar also said immediate steps were required to be taken for removing the technical snag in rail bridge at Mokama, a vital link to connect the people of North and South Bihar.

He expressed serious concern over alleged inordinate delay being made by railways in handing over the land to the State government following closure of the railway line between Patna and Digha.

“We want to construct a broad road using the land for easing traffic congestions”, he said.
