A National Investigation Agency (NIA) team will visit Bangladesh next week to gather information in connection with the alleged involvement of Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in the Bardhaman blast case.
“A team headed by an officer of the Inspector-General rank will meet officials of the Bangladeshi enforcement and intelligence agencies. Both sides will share information on the activities of the banned outfit,” said an MHA official.
After the arrest of Sajid, the alleged chief of the outfit’s Bardhaman module, and his close accomplice, Amjad Sheikh, the Bangladesh Police arrested Sajid’s brother for his alleged role in terrorist activities there. The NIA officials may seek details of his disclosures for further clues.
Earlier this week, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval briefed Gowher Rizvi, Senior Adviser to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on the latest developments in the case.
