A 42-year-old naxal sympathiser has been arrested from the Wardha Railway Station, police said today.
A team of Gondia police and city unit of the ATS apprehended Sudhir Dhawale, in the neighbouring district, 80 kms from Nagpur, on Sunday, they said.
Mr. Dhawale, a known naxal supporter publishes a monthly journal ‘Vidrohi’ and is on the wanted list of the police. He is a resident of Byculla in Mumbai and is facing offences under relevant sections since 2005.
The ATS team led by PI Purushottam Choudhary kept a watch on his movement along with Gondia police and held him in Wardha district, before he could catch a train to Mumbai.
He was there to participate in the third Ambedkar Sahitya Sammelan and spoke on media and Ambedkar literature.
Police said Mr. Dhawale, a Dalit was involved in the movement since last 17 years and also recovered some printed naxal material from him.
He was taken to Gondia after his arrest and produced before a local court in Duggipar (Gondia) which remanded him to police custody till January 12.
