Mulayam backs Abu Azmi

The Samajwadi Party president, Mulayam Singh slammed the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) for the physical assault on the party MLA, Abu Aasim Azmi in the Maharashtra Assembly during the oath taking ceremony on Monday.

Mr. Azmi, who is also the president of the Maharashtra unit of the Samajwadi Party was manhandled by the MNS MLAs for taking the oath in Hindi.

Terming the MNS cadres as rats, the SP president lauded Mr. Azmi for taking oath in Hindi. Mr. Singh said the SP MLA has done a great service to the national language. He added that the entire nation would feel proud of Mr. Azmi.

The SP chief said his party was unfazed by such activities.
