Mukul Roy, once the second in command of the Trinamool Congress, has been removed from the post of the party’s national general secretary on Saturday.
The decision was taken at a Trinamool working committee meeting at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's residence in south Kolkata.
Mr. Roy’s wings in the party were clipped earlier when senior party leader Subrata Bakshi was appointed to the post of national general secretary, along with Mr. Roy. Mr. Bakshi will now be the only general secretary of the party.
The development has further hit the relationship between Mr. Roy and Ms. Banerjee that appeared ever since the former was summoned by the CBI in connection with the multi-crore Saradha scam.
